For those of you who haven't heard of it "No-Poo" is a new internet craze of which you stop using shampoo in your hair. The reason being is because shampoo not only cleans your hair but at the same time strips it of it's natural oil which are essential for maintaining hair health, meaning each time you wash your scalp it has to regenerate these oils tiring out the follicles (these are the roots of your hairs). Many will argue and cringe at the thought of not washing their hair because it soon becomes greasy but this in fact is what you want. The greasiness is simply your hair replenishing it's lost oils. When you have been quite religiously washing out these oils your scalp has most probably got into the routine of replenishing them all at once after every wash so your shampooing could actually be making your hair greasier. All this constant renewal of the oils is not only tiring out your scalp but also starving your hair at the same time. Some have said that shampoo will even dry out your hair making it brittle. Needless to say though the answer is not to give up completely on your hairs hygiene but to use alternative methods. There have been many suggestions given by no-pooers like using baking soda, eggs, coconut oil and even mayonnaise but most will agree the best is simply using water. Of course though this transition is not going to make your hair super clean straight away as I said your scalp Is used to having it's oils stripped on a regular basis so you should give it up to six weeks for your scalp to ween itself off shampoo. The results are GREAT though, no-poo has performed miracles on those follicles. My hair has become thicker, stronger and I have even started regrowing lost hairs on my once receding hair line. I have had others try this method and they too have saved their hair from baldness. Sounds like it's defiantly worth a go right?? I will stress though No-poo may not be for everyone, although it is the natural way of keeping hair clean (we didn't have shampoo a hundred years ago did we) some people may have jobs or hobbies which mean they are exposed to substances which just won't wash out with water like oil, paint and dust which I can personally assure you is a bugger to get out so these people will have to be a bit more savvy with what they use. So If anyone has any other shampoo alternatives or they simply want to post there results, here is the place to do it...
